Innovation: The DNA of Forté
Behind Forté, is a long line of creative and transformative thinkers and pioneers in the specialty construction industry. With generations of experience, the Acton family has brought ideas to life for over 60 years, starting with Hubert Acton in the 1950’s on the construction of Disneyland.
Following Hubert’s service in the US Army Air Corps, he studied electronics in Europe before returning to the United States to take up plastering, which also happened to be his father’s trade. Within several years, he left behind his independent work for a career with Disneyworld that lasted 18 years. During his time at Disney, Hubert was heavily involved in the building of the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean and the Matterhorn. The experience Hubert gained during his time at Disney led him to found Acton Animation with his son, Ken Acton.
Before founding Acton Animation with his father, Ken followed closely in Hubert’s footsteps. He served in the Air Force, and went on to work for Disney as well, where he developed his skills and love for creation, before starting the business with his father. Acton Animation became known for quality, creativity, and their ability to turn their client’s visions into reality. The company was pivotal in the development of world-renowned amusement parks, including Astroworld, Carowinds, and Kings Dominion. In 1995, Acton Animation relocated to Las Vegas following Hubert’s death. It was here that the company continued to expand upon its legacy, filling demands in the gaming industry created by its continual evolution.
It is no surprise that Scott Acton followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, starting his career by pushing a broom at Acton Animation at 16 years old. With both Hubert and Ken getting their start with Disney projects, it is fitting that Scott attended “Disney University,” where he learned essential business and leadership skills.
Scott started two companies before founding Forté Specialty Contractors in 2010, which gave him the experience and passion to return to what he knew best. Now, with Forté, Scott continues the excellence and commitment to creativity and innovation started by his father and grandfather before him, filled with passion for what he does.
